I hate how this looks. I don’t want those chat bubbles above the widget.
If I go to Widget Behavior and turn on: “disable message preview on desktop” it makes it so the chat bubbles above the widget go away, but in turn the widget automatically opens when you visit the site with that on. Which is also not ideal.
Any way to remove those chat bubbles above the widget and also not have the widget auto-open when you go to the site?
If I disable the message preview, it makes the chat widget go from being collapsed at the bottom of the page, to automatically opened. I don’t have any issues with it opening when they click on the widget.
I can delete the trigger that automatically messages a user on the page but it leaves the chat window blank.
So currently my options are:
1. Leave the preview message on and it shows the chat bubbles above the widget while it's collapsed/closed.
2. I can turn on the "disable message preview on desktop" and it makes the chat bubbles above the widget disappear, but the chat widget automatically opens when someone visits the site.
3. I can delete the trigger that makes the system message the user but... if I do that the chat widget is just completely blank. So users may think it doesn't work.
Thanks for sharing the details. At the moment, those are the only available options since that’s how the welcome message feature behaves. Unfortunately, there isn’t a way to customize it further so it only appears when a visitor clicks on the widget without showing a preview or leaving the window blank.
hey, right now tawk.to doesn’t allow hiding preview bubbles without auto-opening chat. only options are keep preview on, or disable it and let chat open automatically. no middle ground yet till they add that feature.
Thanks for bringing this up and sharing your feedback! I’ve already forwarded your suggestion to our team to see if we can include this option in future updates. We really appreciate you taking the time to share ideas that help improve the tawk.to experience.
