How do you enter a US telephone number that includes an extension number?

Many businesses use extension numbers in the phone numbers for contacts. The phone number entry field doesn’t seem to allow this. How should we enter extension numbers with phone numbers?

Are you receiving an error when entering an extension with the phone number? If so, could you please share a screenshot of the error or what you’re seeing? This will help us better understand the issue, and I’ll be happy to forward it to our development team for further investigation.

No error, but the field only takes numbers. So you can’t enter x or ext. to indicate the extension. Typically, extensions are expressed like this: (202) 4561414 x1234. So, in tawk.to, the number would appear as +12024561414x1234, or +12024561414ext1234 but you can’t do that.
