Choose which departments to display on forms

Hi, I love the department feature when creating forms on widgets, however it does display all the departments to the customer. We have some departments that we don’t want the customers to be able to see. It would be great if we could limit and choose which departments to show to the customer through the form.

Hi @KiranK, thanks for your feedback. Currently, it displays all departments that have at least 1 member added.

Curious – why are you interested in hiding certain departments from the pre-chat form?

Hi @kristaps I want to become a paying customer however this dropdown issue is a blocker, hard to believe it’s not fix while a lot of work is being done on AI at the same time.

Is there an update on this at all ?

At first for a couple of hours I didn’t notice it showed on Offline List as well due to this cut off issue it would be great to have this fixed.

At the moment, this isn’t in development, as it hasn’t been a high-demand request.

Thanks for coming back to me, if you add say 5 debarments which are branches to your chat then the dropdown to the end user is really hard for them to see that there are options.

We opted to remove the departments so that users had less to answer before talking to us and this also gets around the issue.

Hi Chris, thanks for clarifying, understood. The dropdown menu does not display all the options until the user scrolls. The Online & Offline badges also lengthen the list.

I’ll raise this with the team again, and we’ll figure out a way to improve this UX.

If you have a lot of departments, e.g. for ticket management, it does feel a bit clunky if they’re all included in the dropdown menu in the Pre-chat form.

A workaround is to add a custom options menu instead. However, in that case, all agents will be notified about those chat requests.
